Matthew Cadbury, MA/MBA
(United Kingdom) 07966 290 118
Matthew is based in the U.K. and leads Continuity’s practice in Northern and Western Europe, consulting to family firms on succession planning and governance development. As a consultant, his effective engagement with clients has been shaped by his distinguished work as a director of both public and private companies, and from his extensive international experience as an executive leader in his own family’s business – Cadbury Schweppes – which was sold after five generations.
At Cadbury Schweppes, Matthew served as development director for over a decade. During his tenure he led the integration of acquisitions in Turkey and Egypt; oversaw acquisitions in Argentina, Spain, Poland, and Canada (many of which were family owned companies); and managed a £100 million subsidiary in India.
Through these experiences, Matthew gained deep insights into the business and human dynamics of family business operations, leveraging that specialized knowledge in his consulting assignments with small and large family enterprises across Europe. In addition to serving as a director of both private and public businesses – including Mondelez India Foods, Ltd. (formerly Cadbury India, Ltd.), GlobeScan, Inc., and Tex Holdings, plc – he qualified with distinction as a Chartered Director at the Institute of Directors.
Matthew conducts research on, and teaches about, trade and international business at the University of Hertfordshire. He was a director of United Nations Women, U.K., a charity that supports the UN’s work dedicated to empowering women worldwide.
He earned an MA in Engineering from Cambridge University, U.K. and an MBA from INSEAD, France. He speaks fluent Spanish.
